Verse 1
मुदाकरात्तमोदकं सदा विमुक्तिसाधकम् ।
He who holds the bliss-giving modaka (sweet) and always grants liberation.
कलाधरावतंसकं विलासिलोकरक्षकम् ॥
He who is adorned by the crescent moon and protects all the worlds.
अनायकैकनायकं विनाशितेभदैत्यकम् ।
The sole leader of those who have no other protector, and the destroyer of elephant-like demons.
नताशुभाशुनाशकं नमामि तं विनायकम् ॥ १ ॥
I bow to that Vinayaka who quickly removes the misfortunes of those who surrender to Him.
Verse 2
नतेतरातिभीकरं नवोदितार्कभास्वरम् ।
He is terrifying to the wicked but shines like the newly risen sun.
नमत्सुरारिनिर्जरं नताधिकापदुद्धरम् ॥
He destroys the enemies of the gods and rescues devotees from great difficulties.
सुरेश्वरं निधीश्वरं गजेश्वरं गणेश्वरम् ।
He is the Lord of the gods, the Lord of treasures, the Lord with the elephant form, and the Lord of all ganas.
महेश्वरं तमाश्रये परात्परं निरन्तरम् ॥ २ ॥
I constantly seek refuge in Him, the Supreme Lord who transcends all.
Verse 3
समस्तलोकशङ्करं निरस्तदैत्यकुञ्जरम् ।
He brings welfare to all worlds and destroys mighty demon-elephants.
दरेतरोदरं वरं वरेभवक्त्रमक्षरम् ॥
He has a large belly, is the best among beings, and possesses the noble face of an elephant.
कृपाकरं क्षमाकरं मुदाकरं यशस्करम् ।
He is the source of compassion, forgiveness, joy, and fame.
मनस्करं नमस्कृतां नमस्करोमि भास्वरम् ॥ ३ ॥
I bow to that radiant One who purifies the minds of those who worship Him.
Verse 4
अकिञ्चनार्तिमार्जनं चिरन्तनोक्तिभाजनम् ।
He removes the suffering of the helpless and is praised in ancient scriptures.
पुरारिपूर्वनन्दनं सुरारिगर्वचर्वणम् ॥
He is the beloved son of Lord Shiva and crushes the pride of the enemies of the gods.
प्रपञ्चनाशभीषणं धनञ्जयादिभूषणम् ।
He is fearsome at the dissolution of the universe and is revered by heroes such as Dhananjaya (Arjuna).
कपोलदानवारणं भजे पुराणवारणम् ॥ ४ ॥
I worship that ancient elephant-faced Lord whose cheeks shine magnificently.
Verse 5
नितान्तकान्तदन्तकान्तिमन्तकान्तकात्मजम् ।
The son of Shiva (destroyer of death), whose tusks are exceedingly beautiful and radiant.
अचिन्त्यरूपमन्तहीनमन्तरायकृन्तनम् ॥
His form is inconceivable, infinite, and cuts away all obstacles.
हृदन्तरे निरन्तरं वसन्तमेव योगिनाम् ।
He dwells forever in the hearts of yogis.
तमेकदन्तमेव तं विचिन्तयामि सन्ततम् ॥ ५ ॥
I constantly meditate upon that One-Tusked Lord (Ekadanta).
Phala Shruti (Benefits of Recitation)
महागणेशपञ्चरत्नमादरेण योऽन्वहम् ।
Whoever recites these five gems of praise to Mahaganesha with devotion every day,
प्रजल्पति प्रभातके हृदि स्मरन् गणेश्वरम् ॥
Remembering Lord Ganesha in the heart at dawn,
अरोगतामदोषतां सुसाहितीं सुपुत्रताम् ।
Obtains good health, freedom from defects, noble companionship, and virtuous children.
समाहितायुरष्टभूतिमभ्युपैति सोऽचिरात् ॥ ६ ॥
Such a person soon gains a long life, prosperity, and the eight forms of divine blessings.
Overall Meaning
The Ganesha Pancharatnam, traditionally attributed to Adi Shankaracharya, praises Ganesha as the remover of obstacles, bestower of wisdom, compassion, prosperity, protection, and ultimately liberation. The hymn concludes by stating that daily recitation with devotion brings health, success, longevity, and spiritual growth.
